The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest: Episode III
My elaborate plans to buy a boatload of Chinese buns after work were thwarted by these ensuing showers. Instead, I contented myself with picking up a few items from Trader Joe's, including a package of chocolate chip cookies ($3).

After my homemade dinner of sweet and sour chicken had settled sufficiently, I unfolded the seal of the white paper bag with its hazy peek-through display window. Two silver dollar-sized cookies, a mug of milk, and Washington Square in hand I retreated to my bedroom to munch and sip and read about turn-of-the-century New Yorkers much richer than I.
Before I post my undoubtably intriguing novel commentary, here's what I thought of the cookie:
Chewiness: Moderate. Ample chewiness surrounding the chips but the exterior layer was dry and crumbly.
Texture: Sugary but unexciting batter
Chip Quality: Excellent. Large semi-sweet chips only slightly melted.
MMM Factor: Fair. Still too much like store-bought, i.e. lacking the vanilla and brown sugar nuances of bakery fare
Overall Grade: 6.0
