The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest: Episode II

In my continuing search for the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie, I stopped by the The Boston Chipyard at Faneuil Hall on the way to meet Bunches for dinner (see forthcoming post on Pizzeria Regina).

A certain purple-themed restaurant reviewer had oohed and aahed over the quality of the Chipyard's goods and I was eager to try their mini cookies sold by the dozen. In addition to standard chocolate chip, the Chipyard also sells oatmeal raisin chocolate chip, white chocolate chip, peanut butter chocolate chip, macademia chocolate chip, fudge chocolate chip, and walnut chocolate chip.

Each cookie is about the size of a silver dollar, and after eating my full half-dozen ($2.50), I was grossly unsatisfied. Here's why:

Chewiness: Not at all. Crispy even and a bit dry.
Texture: Overly sweet and lacking the traditional rich vanilla cookie flavor. Interior and outside were coated with small sugar crystals.
Chip Quality: Difficult to tell because there were so few. Overall just fine.
MMM Factor: NA. I've bought better at the store.

Overall Grade: 4
