Dunkin’ Donuts Prototype Restaurant

It seems the much-awaited Dunkin' Donuts all-day cafe restaurant will finally open, according one online dining source. The monster chain just recently finished pushing Krispy Kreme out of the Boston area, and is now reportedly giving Starbucks a run for its money in New York City.

This news is probably not very exciting to most Bostonians because we're used to Dunkin' Donuts weekly kooky attempts to gain an even bigger share of the market. Case in point, the Supreme Omelet Breakfast sandwich, a croissant stacked with an egg mixture of American, Swiss, and Monterey Jack cheeses, bacon, scallions, red and green peppers, potatoes, and mushrooms. Everywhere are oversized posters of this monster sandwich, screaming "BIG FLAVOR", and warning, in a considerably smaller font, only until March 12th. Better start running.

I can't appreciate Dunkin' Donuts fully because I don't like coffee, which supposedly comprises 63% of its sales. The taste of coffee was one of the many I was told I would "grow to like", along with beets, baked ham, marscapone cheese, and other nasty stuff. However, I can and do appreciate a luscious trans-fatty donut and am eager to see what other baked sweets the new cafe might offer.

The official press release from the Dunkin Donuts website fails to elaborate greatly on the new menu, instead going into great detail as to how the cafe's interior design will enable a "powerful, emotional connection" with consumers. Um, if you say so.

I'm just hoping for some Super Colossal Donut with three kinds of creme filling that's 75% bigger than anything on the market.
